About No AI Slop

No AI Slop is a free, MIT-licensed editing skill by Peter Yang that plugs into Claude Code, Codex, and other AI harnesses. It edits drafts to remove more than 20 named AI writing patterns, from binary contrasts to importance puffery, while preserving the writer's personal voice, and it can audit a draft and quote each slop pattern it finds without rewriting.

Key Features

Removes 20+ named AI writing patterns, each with a documented fix
Detect mode quotes every flagged line as checkable evidence
Voice preservation rules keep humor, bluntness, and cadence intact
Built-in eval checklist the model runs against its own edits
Banned-word and empty-phrase lists with judgment calls, not blind deletion
Installs into Claude Code, Codex, or any skill-compatible AI harness

Completely free under the MIT license. Install it into Claude Code, Codex, or any AI harness that supports skills by pointing the agent at the GitHub repo.

Use Cases

Cleaning AI-drafted blog posts and newsletters before publishingAuditing whether a draft reads as AI-written, with quoted evidenceEditing marketing copy to sound direct and humanTeaching teams a shared standard for AI-assisted writing

Limitations

  • It is a prompt skill, not a standalone app, so it requires an AI coding harness to run
  • Detection names patterns as evidence but deliberately does not claim AI authorship
  • Rules are tuned for English prose

Frequently Asked Questions

Is No AI Slop an app or a website?
Neither. It is an open-source skill: a set of editing rules and a self-evaluation checklist that you install into an AI harness such as Claude Code or Codex. The agent then applies the rules to any draft you paste.
Can No AI Slop tell me if something was written by AI?
It deliberately avoids that claim. Instead of guessing authorship the way AI detectors do, its detect mode names each slop pattern it finds and quotes the exact line, so you can verify every finding yourself.
Will it flatten my writing style?
Voice preservation is a core rule. The skill is instructed to keep bluntness, humor, fragments, and digressions that belong to the writer, and to make the minimum effective edit rather than polishing everything into generic prose.
